Next month, plans for a brand new building at Warwick Business School to accommodate its MBA students will start to bear fruit. Funded by the University of Warwick, the new building’s contemporary design and budget of over US$24M has been approved.

Construction firm, Bowmer and Kirkland, have won the challenge of having the building ready for use by Warwick before the spring of 2015.

According to the latest QS Global 200 Business Schools Report, Warwick Business School (WBS) is amongst the top 20 business schools in Europe and MBA students enrolling after the new site’s completion can look forward to enjoying contemporary facilities that have also been designed with an eye on sustainability.

WBS seeks top facilities for the benefit of their MBA students

“We want to have the top facilities to help turn our students into the entrepreneurs and business leaders of the future. This extension emphasizes our commitment to the very best in teaching and research, research that will not only benefit students but the business world as well”, said WBS dean, Mark Taylor, in an interview with the University of Warwick’s student newspaper.

The plans were drawn up by Associated Architects last year. The new building will include new teaching, staff and visitor facilities, across two wings of accommodation separated by a metal clad drum that forms a curved atrium. Included in the accommodation wings will be open-plan office space, teaching spaces as well as a behavioral laboratory.

The design also reflects environmental concerns. The plans call for energy-efficient lighting and other features such as mixed mode ventilation and enhanced natural daylight, and there are further plans to heighten insulation using air tightness and solar protection.

If everything goes according to schedule, it seems from 2015 onwards, WBS MBA students will have a greatly improved environment in which to focus on their courses and need only fear jealousy from other students at the university.
